I grew up predominantly in the green hills of KwaZulu-Natal, enjoying the suburban life of Westville. After school I traveled overseas before returning to study BSc (Agric) Animal Science in Pretoria at Tukkies. It was during my post-grad studies that I discovered climbing and my love for the great outdoors. From then on I was irrevocably hooked. While I was involved in a number of other sports at the time, climbing soon became my sole focus.
A few years later I returned home to Durban where I was lucky enough to find a strong core of female climbers as well as a psyched bunch of Durbanites to show me the local spots. I soon started working for the South African National Climbing Federation (SANCF) and was deeply involved in the organising of climbing competitions across the country, with the focus being on the school level. These days you can find this banana girl managing Durban’s first commercial climbing gym.
